Former Minister under the People’s Partnership Government Vasant Bharath has signalled his intention to put aside all differences with the UNC and work together with the party for the benefit of all citizens.

Bharath parted ways with the party some four years ago and has since made several public comments about its leadership and management decisions.

However in a media release over the weekend, the former Food Production Minister announced that he was “happy” to be working closely with the party’s leadership “to strenghten the party and serve in the best interests of our nation.”

As he noted that the UNC previously made significant strides in several areas including healthcare and economic growth, Bharath said:

“My past differences with the UNC leadership pale in comparison to the pervasive issues that plague the country under the incompetent head and corrupt hands of the People’s National Movement (PNM).”

Bharath explained that the party’s Political Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was the one who reached out to him to rejoin hands.

“Mrs Persad-Bissessar has demonstrated the ultimate leadership by setting aside personal differences for the sake of our country and has asked me to join hands to rebuild our nation together. I am determined to work collaboratively to rebuild trust, develop a robust strategy and get the party ready to challenge the PNM,” he said.

“This is not just about politics; it is about building a future we can all be proud of. Together we can make a difference and create a brighter future for Trinidad and Tobago,” Bharath added.
